What is the story of house and home? Who lives in that space and why? Join renowned photographer Douglas McCulloh and Art VULUPS (Art as a Vehicle to Understand Land Use Planning and Sustainability) for a two-session workshop where you will explore the nuances of housing and home.

Dwellings Workshop with ARTVULUPS Session 1 – May 21, 2011
Session 1 begins with a discussion of Douglas’s book Dream Street, a compelling portrait of mass home construction. Mr. McCulloh and urban planners from the Inland Empire section of the American Planning Association will then help you discover different kinds of housing and guide you in creating photographs about the dwellings around you.

Dwellings Workshop with ARTVULUPS Session 2 – June 4, 2011
During Session 2, Mr. McCulloh and UCR teaching fellows will help you edit and select a single photograph that best exemplifies your narrative of home. Your photo will be included in an Art VULUPS exhibit at the Riverside Arts Association from June 16-July 16, 2011, and be shown in digital form at UCR/CMP during the summer.
